Allergy medicine
Some chronic fatigue syndrome patients have a history on allergies and treatment should be carefully prescribed because their sensibility to drugs. Non-sedating antihistamines (desloratadine as Clarinex, fexofenadine as Allegra and ceterizine as Zyrtec) or astemizole (Hismanal) and loratadine (Claritin) may be helpful for them. However, anti-allergy therapy has no efficacy in the treatment of CFS itself.
Some frequent adverse reactions associated with use of these medications include drowsiness, fatigue, and headache. Sedating antihistamines (Benadryl) can also be help patients at bedtime. The have also antihistamine effects.
