Diamox decreases selectively intracranial pressure and calcium channel blockers which are thought to increase cerebral blood flow. Analgesic sedatives like Fiorinal are sometimes used and for vascular type headaches (migraines), Midrin and Imitrex (sumatriptan) can be helpful.
Acetaminophen (Tylenol and others) has no effect on inflammation, but can be useful for headache and muscle-joint pain and it is preferred as first attempt. . If the regular dosage does not help, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) should be added, because high dose can cause liver problems.
Neurontin was reported as useful for some CFS patients in getting rid of headaches and muscle pain, but it is a new drug and should be reviewed carefully before use because of its side effects.
