Sleeping problems medicine
Unrestful sleep and insomnia are disorders reported by chronic fatigue syndrome patients. Products like melatonin (in low doses), valerian, Tylenol PM, clonazepam 0.5-1mg (best to initiate sleep) and trazadone 25-50mg (for maintaining sleep) are well tolerated and efficient.
Ambien and the benzodiazepines (Restoril, ProSom, Halcion) may be helpful. The problem is thsat patients tend to develop tolerance over time.
Some CFS specialists begin the therapy with Klonopin (an anti-seizure drug) and doxepin (a tricyclic drug), followed by trazadone and maybe a hypnotic like Ambien.
